Planting was completed in early October. A total of 150 native plants, comprising kanuka, manuka, ti kouka (cordyline/cabbage tree), and some kowhai, have been planted in suitable locations across the site. Most of the manuka, ti kouka and kowhai have been planted close to the river in the dampest soils, while most of the kanuka have been planted on the dry escarpment.

Watering will be a major task through the summer months, and another ongoing task will be grubbing out re-emerging briars.

The concept plan for the Red Bridge area is currently being revised to include the true-left side of the bridge. The QLDC manages land adjoining both sides of the bridge, and the Wanaka Community Board supports a contiguous plan for the area. The revised concept plan will be informed by archaeological surveys of the punt reserves on either side of the bridge.
 
When the revised concept plan is complete, it will be possible to plan new and ongoing native restoration work. A priority will be the removal of some of the wilding conifers near the existing planting sites along the river.
